Has anyone replaced a power lift gate shock?

It seems one of the shocks or actuators (drivers side) is broken on my 15 Denali. It makes a ton of noise and I have to manually lift and close my lift gate. The part is inexpensive; about $100-125, but how do I remove the old one?

I have a 2015 Tahoe and one of them did fail. Luckily, I brought it back to the dealer and they put a new one on.
