I know what you are saying. Like turning into a tight parking spot, turning the wheel all the way and ya get this audible "click" from there steering column. Almost sounds like a relay click. I hear it too, also have 4wd, but have no idea what it is lol. Been that way ever since I bought the truck... Ain't worried about it.

I believe it turns the ac compressor off to lessen the load of a full turn on the steering
