I had been hunting down a belt squeak for a while now. Usually it turns out to be the bearing on the belt tensioner. Our vehicles have two... After replacing both the tensioner and idler pulleys I still had a noise. I removed all the belts and the cooling fan and could not feel any suspicious bearings on any of the accessories or water pump. The weep hole on the water pump was just a tad moist, but it looked more like oil than coolant. No coolant loss was apparent. I decided to slap a new water pump on it anyway. I was surprised how easy that was and was very happy to determine that the water pump was the source of the squeak after all.
