What is a reasonable transient (10 sec) and sustained (10 min) RPM for Yukon 5.3L engine during heavy grade ascending/descending towing? I'll be towing through the Rockies with (reportedly) up to 10 mile 6-8% grades and want to be sure I don't over stress the engine/transmission. Thanks.

I have done my fair share of towing car trailers through some mountains, not the Rockies but.... I tried to keep mine at 3500 to 3700 RPM on long pulls up a hill. Chances are you aren't going to harm the engine internals you will more want to keep an eye on the engine and tranny temps. There were some points that I was in second gear uphill for long periods just to maintain speed. The tranny temp was affected more than engine in my situation.
