    Yes. It's getting new cam, rod, and main bearings. One of the cam bearings had spun, but there is no damage to the cam.

    Mechanic said that the oil was fairly clean, this time, when he drained it. Since there is obvious wear new oil and filter are going back together.

    I stand corrected. There was a relief valve in it. Since the engine has developed a knock we are going to go ahead and replace all the bearings along with that relief valve and hope that fixes the problem.

    The mechanic said that there was a port fairly close to the drain plug, but there was nothing in it. He did say that he cleaned the pan out around it though.

    The oil filter and oil have been changed about 5 times since this started. Most of the filters were Fram Toughguard filters, but there was one NAPA filter and now the K&N.

    Actually, everything hasn't been "hacked out". It is still in service, however, I know what you mean. I have removed equipment from several Crown Vics in the past and generally try to not mess up the factory wiring any more than I have to.
