Need advice on prepping my Yukon's oil pan gasket

I'm prepping for the reinstall of my oil pan this weekend. I have a few questions though: 1. What are the torque specs of the different oil pan bolts? I've seen different numbers online for different LS engines. Does my aluminum block "L92" engine spec out differently than its iron block...

Thanks for recommendation. I'm going now to look at sealants.

Need advice on prepping my Yukon's oil pan gasket

I'll do as you and apply the RTV in all 4 corners. The Felpro gasket seems better engineered than the OEM rivoted one. As far as dropping the steering rack, yes. My wife helped hold the steering rack just low enough so I could jimmy out the pan. The biggest test now is getting the front...

Need advice on prepping my Yukon's oil pan gasket

My NNBS Yukon XL Denali beat me up while I was removing the oil pan. Much more involved than I had expected. Have a bloody eye to prove it. So I'm in intermission mode, cleaning the pan and engine mounting surface. The replacement gasket I purchased is a Felpro Part#: 30693R. I has an...

Trying to stiffen up rear axle movement

All done. The sway bar is parallel to the floor and frame. Took it for a test drive. My rear feels like it can corner now. The difference is very noticeable on sharp turns. Cant wait to see how it performs at expressway speeds with the trailer. I'm wondering if I should upgrade the front...

Trying to stiffen up rear axle movement

Thanks. The instructions werent' very helpful. I'll have to raise the truck in the morning as I have a few more inches on the end links that I can shorten. Diagrams in the kit were confusing and there are washers, nuts, and bolts left over. Don't know if these are for spacers that...

Trying to stiffen up rear axle movement

Ok. I just finished installation of a Hellwig sway bar and end links for my Yukon XL Denali. Cornering seems better, rear feels more planted. I won't know how it really performs until it warms up some and I hitch up my travel trailer. What I did notice is that the bar hangs much lower than...

Trying to stiffen up rear axle movement

Do you know if a stiffer, solid Hellwig bar would result in more stability than the OEM hollow bar?

Trying to stiffen up rear axle movement

It was suggested by someone I know to upgrade the rear stabilizer bar on my 08 Yukon XL Denali to something aftermarket (ie larger/beefier). I do tow a 6000 lb trailer so I'm looking for suggestions to help with mitigate any rear end movement. I've read Eibach and Hellwig have products that...

Tow/haul mode with my 6 speed Yukon Denali

My trans temps when not towing are around 150 degrees. This summer will be the litmus test for my truck. In fact, I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on a tune with Black Bear as I've heard it really wakes up the 6.2 beast. Black Bear tuners are coming to my state in 3 weeks and I'm trying...

Tow/haul mode with my 6 speed Yukon Denali

I did this late last year in anticipation of towing my current trailer. The 2nd aux cooler is in line with the factory cooler. So far, temps have not exceeded 180 degrees. Definitely good practice.

Tow/haul mode with my 6 speed Yukon Denali

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I think all of the GMT9XX's have the stock transmission temp gauge in the DIC. It's definitely a nice feature. As far as the tow/haul option, I'll assume best practice and use it when the truck demands it; but when cruising at hwy speeds, I'll turn it off and try...

Tow/haul mode with my 6 speed Yukon Denali

I'm relatively new to towing with my 2008 Yukon XL Denali and I had a question regarding towing my travel trailer. I know the purpose of the tow/haul option on the gear selector. When active, it changes shift points, stays in a lower gear longer, and downshifts quicker when slowing down...

Need help with squating on a 2008 XL Denali's rear while towing

Update, dealer found the wiring harness leading to the compressor shorting out each unit. They replaced the harness and all is good now. Wish I could just keep the 16 Yukon I was driving around all weekend and let them keep my 08. It towed my trailer nicely.

    Rear air shock boot shredded...

I'm assuming the truck has gone through 2 sets of rear air shocks due to the failure of the autoride compressor. The trucks at the dealer now being serviced. Another thread discussing my on-going issues...

Need help with squating on a 2008 XL Denali's rear while towing

Norcal (Tony): If the dealer doesn't come up with a fix, what setup do you suggest I move forward with in order to make it a nice tow vehicle? My travel trailer is approximately 6000 lbs and would to help out my 08 Denali anyway I can.

Need help with squating on a 2008 XL Denali's rear while towing

I still think the compressors are being shorted by the relay somehow. Dealer says it's not. Why would 3 compressors blow with hours of installation?

Need help with squating on a 2008 XL Denali's rear while towing

I would but my service warranty contract is paying for it. If it came out of my pocket, I'd change out the springs for some moog z71s and replace the air shocks with bilstein 5100s. The dealer burned up 2 compressors now and kept the truck over the weekend. Gave me a 2016 yukon xl loaner...

Need help with squating on a 2008 XL Denali's rear while towing

Update, dealer says the new compressor is fried after 2 hours on the car. A short? Theyre still investigating. What would cause a new compressor to overload and fail immediately?

Need help with squating on a 2008 XL Denali's rear while towing

Don't think so. I checked 40 and 45 under the hood. I hear the compressor click once about 8 sec after I turn on the truck. Nothing else. I'm actually waiting now at the dealer while they investigate. I wonder if the relay is the culprit.?.? I did a bench test on it but it check out.

Need help with squating on a 2008 XL Denali's rear while towing

Okay, 2 new oem air shocks and oem compressor replaced by dealer. I get home and don't hear the compressor, even after I deflate the shocks by disconnecting the air lines to each. Back to the dealer I go. Why won't my compressor activate???? Service tech took it back on the hoist. This is...

Need help with squating on a 2008 XL Denali's rear while towing

I realized the load leveling air compressor wasn't operating under heavy loads. Probably the reason the one new air shock boot on the drivers rear is shredded. So, I purchased a new air compressor assembly from amazon and installed it last night. I put 500 lbs of weight in the rear cargo area...

Need help with squating on a 2008 XL Denali's rear while towing

I'm pretty sure NO as air I can air up and down with my compressor very easily. I've visually inspected the lines and nothing seams pinched. I have stock Yukon Denali coil springs on my 2009. RPO code listed for this truck is Z55 (autoride dampening and air leveling suspension). The springs...

    Rear air shock boot shredded...

Dealership will replace the rear passanger shock this week for free under the part's warranty. I'm wondering now if the air compressor is faulting causing due stress on the rear shocks. I'm going to have the dealership check out the complete system. Why would these shock boots fail in a...

Need help with squating on a 2008 XL Denali's rear while towing

This is the best pic I can get of my noncompliant air bag. If I can't get the fold out, I'm not sure it would be safe to inflate under load. And it looks like the only way i'm going to remove it is to cut it out. Anyone have suggestions?
