My new to me 98 Tahoe has a worn out ignition cylinder. The key can be removed at any time and the cylinder itself feels like it's grinding. I can grab another cylinder and key from the wrecking yard but would like to know if replacing it will affect the Theftlock feature? Thanks

unknown at this time.
if just the cylinder you are fine i think but it might be more convenient for all the other locks if you just had it re-pinned by a locksmith assuming all the door locks are fine with the same key.

Thanks for the reply. I got three keys with this truck and each one is for a different lock! Even the tailgate has it's own separate key! If I find a set of good locks with keys at the wreckers this week I will replace them all and drop the key count to two.

Scored a key cylinder from a 98 Suburban and it looks exactly the same as the one in my 98 Tahoe. I pulled out ones from a 96 and 98 Chevy 1500 and a 2002 Savanna 2500 and they were the same as well. Thanks for the tips guys.
