cool air blows out of all front dash vents and floor vents when heat is on. defrost doesnt work, rear heat seems fine. hot air sometimes blows out of front vents when a/c is on. i believe its the blend door acuator. anyone know if there is more than 1 acuator for the front controls on a 2003 gmc yukon xl ?

I'm not positive but I believe there is only the one. Reason being, my mechanic mentioned to me that this is a common problem. I thought mine had gone out but my air conditioning compressor was actually running all the time and cooling my hot air. Checking to make sure it isn't causing the problem is an easy first step.

There are 4blend doors. One each for passenger and driver temp control. One for directing where the air blows and one for recirculation/fresh air.
The one it sounds like your looking for is located above and to the right of the gas peddle. That's the one that directs where it blows

So... if my Tahoe only blows cold on the driver side and doesn't change air flow, is that two blend doors?

Yep. Passenger side works as it's supposed to. Driver side is the problem child.

Then I'd start with the actuator on the passenger floor. That one controls the hot/cold for the drivers side vents. It seems to be the easiest of all four to replace.

Thanks! I'm going to order today. According to Rock Auto, there are two actuators that technically fit my truck, but one is $80 while the other is $40. Going to call up the dealership and see what they say.
