Afternoon all

I'm working on changing my fuel pump on my 2002 Tahoe. When I took the straps off the heat shield just disintegrated due to rust. My question is do they make a new ones, if not can I run with out?

Heat shield from what exactly? The exhaust is on the complete other side. So what exactly was the source of heat that the tank was being protected from?

What I meant to say was, when I took the the straps off the fuel tank the heat shield or guard I'm not sure what's it's called was so rusted it fell apart. It attaches to the side of the tank with 3 metal clips.

On the GMT900s there are two shields, a front one (short) and a rear one (long). Check ebay and amazon. If you want the exact part number plug your VIN in at GMPartsDirect and look it up that way.
