Hello all,

Brand new to the forum, and I could use some help with this one. I had to replace the rear wiper motor and arm (just did it today), and I still can't get this to work. With the wiper switch on 1, the wiper lifts up out of the "holster", but won't do anything else. Here's the weird part. When I flip the switch to 2, the wiper simply goes back into the holster. I'm at a loss on this one. I got the old wiper motor to work for a while by turning it on and gently "assisting" the wiper arm, but now I don't know what the problem is.

Brand new part. Matching part numbers. Funny, the one that I took out was made in Mexico.

Did any of the wires look stripped or pulled on the connection from the vehicle?

Not really. I also checked the connection that passes through to the inside of the vehicle - no burnt wires. I could probably pull the connector off the wiper motor and inspect it a little more thoroughly.

What about when you push the switch in (the washer)? Mine does not work at all in position 1 or 2, but is happy to wipe 3 times when I push it in... I keep meaning to look into it but forgetting.

Maybe it's just a defective replacement motor, or was mislabeled as correct for your vehicle. I'd return it.

I'll pull it out and run jumper wires to the battery and see if it does the same thing. Only way to be sure.

I vaguely remember a TSB somewhere about the rear wipers on the NBS SUVs. Something about a bad ground on the wiper controller under the hood? Or a bad ground on something. I do remember that the solution was to add a ground wire.
