I'm a novice at this and hopefully others who've done the swap will jump in, but-- I have an 03 Tahoe, which is dbw, had the 4.8, found an almost complete 6.0 from an 05 2wd Silverado, also dbw. Everything is the same for the 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 externally like valve covers, oil pans, intakes, throttle bodies, alternators etc. I did have to swap one of the valve covers because the pcv system was a little different between the 2. There's 2 different 6.0's, the LQ4 and the LQ9. The LQ9 came in the Escalade, has the domed pistons, LQ4 came in Silverado and others-- can't remember. You can use the 5.3 intake and the throttle body to keep the dbc setup. Remember, all the components are the same for the 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0, so no problem there. Internally they're different. You can run the 6.0 with the 5.3 tune but me and a bunch of other members would recommend getting it tuned. Majority of guys like black bear tuning. They have in person tuning and the autocal, which let's you get tunes via email. Everyone has a personal preference on what year motor they like. Some have some good points, other not so much. So you'd have to do your homework with that. Once you find the motor you want , and get it, you're gonna want to do a few other little upgrades, cam, torque converter, heads, whatever. Believe me, it will get out of hand! Lol, we've all been there or on our way there. So whatever you decide to do make sure you have a nice budget. Cost me over $7700 for my swap, and I'm still not done! I know I jumped around a lot and I might've skipped a few things, but this is the jist of it. Any other questions please don't hesitate to ask. I know a few other guys will jump in to help you out. Around here we love helping guys spend money on mods!! All good ones tho.

LQ4 came in Silverado and others-- can't remember.
Only because I looked this up the other day, I thought I would share this here if it's helpful in the search for a 6.0L dbc:

LQ4 Applications (1999–2007):

Chevrolet Express / GMC Savana
Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Pickup, 3500 Pickup / GMC Sierra 2500 HD Pickup, 3500 Pickup, 1500HD Crew Cab Denali
Chevrolet Suburban / GMC Yukon XL Denali

Doing exactly that right now..... 2002 Yukon XL, getting a new 6.0 swap and a Level 3 4L60E from Transbuilderguy. Original drivetrain had 470K on it when the engine pushed a head gasket. Figured I would replace both engine and trans at the same time. I sent my ECU to Blackbear for a 6.0 tune. I'll report back once it's complete and on the road.

Can't wait to see how this comes out! Any performance mods on the motor?

Pretty much everything you need to know has been covered. Stock for stock, it's a direct swap. Just keep your current motor until the swap is done and running in case you need the small parts such as the PCV stuff and whatever else you may find. There won't be any internal parts to change, though. As far as year, I'd get the latest model I could find of a Gen3 engine. I believe this is '99-early '07. Gen 4 has changes that you don't wanna get involved with, namely a 58x reluctor wheel on the crankshaft that is incompatible with your 24x PCM. '03+ switched to DBW, but you can swap on your current intake manifold or swap your DBC TB to the 6.0's manifold if it's a 3-bolt. If the 6.0 you swap in is unmodified (other than external bolt-ons), you'll just need your stock PCM flashed with a stock or stock-like 6.0 tune. Your stock 5.3 tune should run it well enough to get to a tuner if that's the route you decide to go. Just give it time to adjust to stay running before hitting the road and plan a slower route to avoid the higher speeds and traffic of the freeway. The new motor will bolt up to your 4L60E. Plan ahead- if you wanna swap the cam, now is the time to do it and don't forget about the supporting mods: valve springs, pushrods (which should be replaced anyway cuz the stock ones are marginally adequate on a stock motor and they're a cheap and easy upgrade), etc. It's also the time to get a higher stall converter to match the cam or just for a bit more performance from the stock setup.

No, its a stock replacement by Powertrain Products. It's my DD, so didn't want to go crazy....yet :D

Also should note that I regulary tow a 20' trailer with a big Kubota tractor. Figured total weight is around 7500Lbs.

Now would be the best time to get crazy. While it's out of the truck.
