Can't add anything that you haven't already suspected. Pulley is probably going bad and the extra tasking when turning the wheel might be causing the bad pulley to drag? I'd suspect it to freeze up and throw your belt at anytime if that is the problem. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Check that link I posted, quite a bit of info on there. It depends also on what year model you were looking at, 4wd or 2wd, PPV or SSV. Law Enforcement utilizes both PPV and SSV depending on the agency and what task they are using it for.
Hate to hear that, but at least it sounds like it's not all too odd for that to happen. I'm thinking along the same lines though, if I'm going to do uppers, I might as well rebuild as much of it as I can while it's down.
I've seen some threads on other sites dealing with rear main seals. I just was pretty sure I saw three or four spots dripping like it had blown around under there when driving or something. Hope you get it nailed down.
Anyone else had any early wearing ball joints? Guy at tire shop said it's uppers, I'm trying to get in and get a second opinion but seemed a little low mileage (85K) for ball joints. :wtf:
