I just got my first truck. Been driving an '03 Yukon for the last 15+ years. Just got a 2013 Silverado LTZ, 5.3L V8.
This weekend we had it camping in the Appalachians. On the interstate, when going down the grade, I would coast a fair amount. And I started noticing that when I was coasting...
Damn. That's what I was afraid of. Any ballpark idea on what kind of cost I am looking at (not repairs, just to evac and recharge/diagnose it)? Like is this a $200 type thing, or a $500 type thing? Thanks for the advice.
Hey everyone, got some updates here and need further advice...
I cranked up, blasted the AC, and connected the can gauge. Sure enough, it was at zero psi. So I started filling. And pretty quickly (much faster than I assumed), it started going up. Then the compressor kicked on, the pressure...
Ok, this is great to know. I did not realize that it wouldn't run if it's dead ass empty. I'll recharge it this weekend and see if I can get it cooling. Huge thanks.
So the belt is still on the compressor just fine. And it's not making any crazy noises. But if I connect the can, and it says it's empty, and then I recharge it (with likely a full can), and the compressor still won't turn on, didn't I just waste a whole can? Because I will have to flush/drain...
My AC is not cooling. I got a can of refrigerant to recharge it, but then I noticed that the compressor doesn't seem to be kicking on.
My questions are...
(1) How do I confirm if the compressor is totally dead?
(2) Is it possible to replace the clutch only or is it an all or nothing type...
I can't tell you how thankful I am for this comment. This explains SO much about this issue. As much as I've tried to track this down this is without a doubt the best explanation I have gotten. Thank you a millions times. I will try the trick with the purge solenoid and see what that does. As...
Sorry, the vacuum is still confusing me. I do understand it has a vacuum leak. I think I just chose a poor choice of words. I was referring to there being a massive pressure release when I unscrew the gas cap.
I'm leaving the Yukon home this weekend and when I get back on Sunday I'll get out my...
I got this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DE97N5E/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it had wires to splice into the existing wires.
A little over a year ago, I started getting "reduced engine power" and throwing codes for the TPS. I replaced the TPS and didn't have any problems since. Until yesterday. Yesterday I picked up the truck after getting some new tires and got reduced engine power. I shut the car off and cranked it...
Welp. Didn't fix it. It still pulls a vacuum. Obviously it's worse the lower the fill is in the tank, e.g., when it's at a quarter tank or below, it gets worse. And it screws with my gas gauge and it drops quickly once it's under a 1/4 tank. I'm basically giving up on this. I've replaced every...
Yes indeed. It's a kick in the pants for sure. But, this Yukon is 15 years old with over 250k miles on it, so it definitely didn't hurt to replace all the other components.
