    What is this? Have looked everywhere online. Oil cooler?

    That's an aftermarket trans-cooler installed in series of the radiator. Probably put in there to help keep the 60e cooler to help it live a little longer.

    As stated above, the PCV system is great for oiling up the intake manifold. When you get time, remove your throttle body and look into the intake with a flash light. You will see the inside has a film of oil all over it. I can post up a picture of my heads (lq4 with 159,*** miles before it died...

    Who has replaced their lifters? 5.3 T

    I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but if your truck is 11-12 years old and 170xxx miles, I would be leery of the O-Ring on the oil pump pick up tube as well. This is a failure point. Since your in there with the lifters, do it the right way. Cam, Lifters, valve springs, timing chain...

    Swap or build?

    Its not that bad. I just welded a piece of 3/8" 8" deep C Channel on the back side of the cross member ($10.00) or you can use flat pate with gussets to make it as well, drill holes for new mount, followed the repin for the transmission plug on side, run 2 wires to the PCM (12.00 on Ebay)...

    Swap or build?

    Here is the motor I am putting in my 02 Denali XL. Did the TBSS Intake and steam ports on all corners, FF 36lb injectors from a new truck, electric fan swap, hydroboost install, EGR delete, 4l80e swap and still kept the NP149 with input shaft resplined on it. The motor it is 460hp with 480lbs...
