Brake Pad Material?

i had a power stop set up on my sti (minus the calipers) really good stuff. felt such confidence with such an initial bite! miss those brakes...:(

Just got around to putting on Akebono ProAct Ceramics as suggested.
Rotors were only 15,000 miles old so I just threw on the pads and they are quiet, seem to brake as well as the hybrids that were on there and no pulsing. It's too soon to tell if they will be cleaner wearing but I am hopeful. And they are much less expensive that GM's.
Happy with them at this point.

The only hitch was the stainless guide assemblies had springlike tabs in the center sticking up toward the pad backing plates where the ones that I had in the past were pointing down to grip the caliper and and hold the stainless guide assemblies in place while installing the pads.
I really don't see the point of the tabs contacting the pad backing plates, if that was the intention, because they don't have the strength to push the pads away from the rotors.
Without the tabs sticking down to grip the caliper the stainless guides tended to move around a lot while trying to get the pads in so I just reused the old ones.

I would just get some autozone premium ceramic they generally run $60-70, they have a lifetime warranty, when they wear out you take them back and get brand new ones for free as long as you own the vehicle.
oem ceramic are costly I think around $200 and they do not have a lifetime warranty.
if you installed both and went and drove it you would never feel or notice any difference between the two of any kind.

FCP Euro also does this for basically every part they sell. It's awesome if you own (older) European cars.

Heck, I ordered my Yukon's Odyseey battery from them, as they had the best price on the interwebs, at the time.

Followup on the Akebonos.
I contacted them and was sent the appropriate stainless guides.
Recently bought the wife a 2016 burb, it had Akebonos on it, they had vibration most likely warped rotors. Threw those in the garbage and put the powerstop ppv rotors on it and some autozone elite pads, brakes work great now

What would be the preferred brake pad material for quiet and clean performance?
Getting tired of my front wheels looking like they came from a german car due to deposits.
I always get powerstops towing drilled and slotted. Going to get stainless lines from powerstop too eventually

I really like these pads/rotors. The coating they apply to the rotors is excellent against road salt/brine... Basically zero corrosion after two years.

I took off those Element 3 pads in favor of less grime on the wheels. It seems like it took less than a week of part time around town driving to muck up the wheels. The replacement Akebono ceramic pads are cleaner and seem to stop just as well and have no downside so far. The Element 3 rotors have 15,000 on them and, as you said, they are holding up well. I didn't do anything to them when installing the new ceramic pads with no ill effects.

I have black wheels, and I guess that hides all dust.
