Hey guys, I bought a 99 two door Tahoe brand new back in 99 when I knew they were going bye bye. Always wanted one so I pulled the trigger way back. Still own it and she just turned 105 k.

Recently I had a coolant leak coming from up front. Thought it was going to be the radiator. Got it on the lift and saw it was coming from around the water pump area. Long story short hose clamp rodded... new hose clamp done deal. In the meantime I was trying to find the drain on the radiator which is like impossible to get to so I just said screw it pulled the hose put a new clamp on and put it on as quick as I could and topped it off.

During the search for the drain, down in the driver side lower corner of the engine bay I found a110v plug with a cap on it. Couple of the prongs are all rotted but it was zip tied down tight in that corner. Do I actually have a block heater and never knew it? I have every lick of paperwork including the window sticker and it mentions nothing about it. I'd assume it's a block heater. What else could it be? Picture of it here:

I had a 1994 GMC Sierra that I bought brand new and it had one from factory, the weird thing I bought it in South Carolina.

Can you see where the other end of the plug goes? Def looks like a block heater to me. Had one on my 84 t type and the plug looked like that.

Funny thing is is I bought it at a dealer in Northern Illinois where I live. But I know it was transferred from a dealer in a trade from a dealer up in Appleton Wisconsin so maybe it has one but why wouldn't it be on the paperwork anywhere? Wouldn't you think it would be on the window sticker as an option?

I didn't dig too deep because I had such a huge laundry list Sunday to get done at home but it looks like it goes from driver side twards the passenger side down low. Was really hard to see where it went but like I said I didn't dig too hard. I mean what else could it be?

Your Tahoe is a first generation hybrid, before they came out with on-board power cells (batteries) in the 2008 models. The system worked ok for what it was. But, the range was limited to the length of extension cord used so people could only get the good fuel economy within 100' +/- of their homes. Some have even tried mounting a power inverter under the hood to power the 110VAC drive system.

I didn't even know I had one until I was deciphering my RPO codes and found K05 (Heater Eng Block) and I went to look for it. It was just like you described, a 110v male cord tied up near the front driver side.
