So I got something in the mail today, paid too much for it, waited a month for it, but I'm excited to see how it does.

Some folks keep their stock filament reverse bulbs ...
Some folks upgrade to led bulbs ...
Some make their own led lights ...
Some have even slapped hids in there ...

Meh!

Ladies and gentlemen, I present you with the only (that I am aware of) 7440 halogen bulbs by Catz:

This is where I got them from (middle of the page): http://www.sigmaautomotive.com/lighting/catz.php

They are the T20 460lm and yes, they are $100 a pair.

Little reverse headlights. :)

Anyhoot, we'll se how they perform ... but it's more a uniqueness thing for me.

I'll post output pics later when it gets dark.

Cheers!

Oh and a note on why I didn't buy the more powerful blue coated bulbs ... they'd reflect blue all over the chrome housing, it looks like butt ass.

Kid those look nasty...can you summarize thoughts?

Easily the brightest bulb available (that I know of) as a 7440.

I'd guess the color is around 4000K, which is what I wanted cause I'm keeping the warm white filament bulbs in the interior, puddles, and license plate as they go really well with the WDT paint and the beige/cocoa interior.

Let's put it this way ... they put more usable light on the road than our fogs.
That's saying something considering the size of the bulbs and the tiny reflectors they're in.

I've had pretty much every 'high power' 7440 led bulb I could find and none are even close to this output. The upshot with the led bulb tho is the whiter color that some prefer.

I'm happy. :)

They sound (and look) pretty amazing...I don't know about you Serge, but I've been really relying on my backup camera and less on my reverse lights these days, especially since putting in the LED's. Mainly I trust they are warning others I'm backing up. That being said, more light is probably a good thing while backing, so I'll stay tuned to see how you like them as time goes on. It'll be interesting to see how they hold up to repeated short bursts of use. Just thinkin' out loud here.

That black kickass counter in your garage?

Garage converted to office/work space type area.

This is how it was when we bought the house:

I need those. I put 15% over the factory tint and its hard to see at night. Was it plug and play?

Whichever were the latest a couple of months ago , with the big leds on four sides (and I think one at the tip), were the last v-leds ones I had. Not nearly as bright as these, plus too white to go with the rest of my filaments bulbs.

Yeah, although IO'm not sure how dark your tint is, I think if you used these it would compensate for it and restore you reverse light output to oem ... maybe a little more or less depending on tint shade.

And it's just a simple bulb swap, couldn't be easier.

No no switch for me ... just nice and bright reverse bulbs.

Hmm. That's a lot of light. Now I just need some 3157's for my reverse lights....

ETA: Of course, I don't see 3157's anywhere.

That's real bright! I have had stock reverses, HID reverses, and now LED reverses. The LED reverses are my favorite. I don't find myself reversing much at night anymore.

I'm not exactly sure how the bulb numbering works ... both 7440 and 3156 are also called T20 bulbs (what I have), but 3156s and 7440s are, to my knowledge, not interchangeable.
