So I picked up a 1985 Honda Shadow 500. I have always wanted a cruiser but now I am having second thoughts...

I have no title and the bike needs some work....

I am scared to tear into it myself and local shops want a ton to fix older bikes like this...

What should I do

I have been inquiring on trades since I parked it in the garage.....

Here are some pics. i think it is pretty nice for a 85 with 18000mi....

You can apply for a lost title at the BMV. I think it's somewhere around $30.

What vehicle is in the picture just to the right of the motorcycle? Is that another project?

headlight sounds like and easy job and the actual install of the cluster shouldn't be a problem. just getting the cluster to properly work i'm not sure of.

I was getting ready to ask where you got this from, as a buddy of mine has a bike that looks exactly like that one that he was looking to unload.

Then I saw you traded a shotgun for it.

if you can get your hands on a service manual you could probably do all the work yourself. maybe try some of the cruiser forums for an online copy.

Sold the bike... got the $400 I wanted for it so that was almost a $200 profit if you dont count the quarter tank of gas it took me to go and get it..
