I would rough up the rim with some sand paper the spray it with some Duplicolor Adhesion Promoter and then your black.

tape off the lense, use like 600 wet sand paper

they look like the metal trim rings like on the first set i got, they pop off if theat the case.
if not tape off the lense, sand, and paint.

Spent some time today and painted the parking lights and corner lights. I can't believe how good it turned out. I ended up using krylon fusion for plastic.
roughed the surface with 400 grit sand paper.
http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/nbpdmjk/tahoe011.jpg
http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/nbpdmjk/tahoe006.jpg
taped the areas up with regular painters tape.
http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/nbpdmjk/tahoe007.jpg
Razored off the excess tape
http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/nbpdmjk/tahoe012.jpg
Then flipped it over and painted it

looks better in person!!! I was just in a rush to throw the grill back on because I had plans. I'll try and take a picture tomorrow of it finished and installed.
I went from faded, shitty headlights, fog lights and corners to a really nice HID headlights, LED turn signals and clear corners in one day. Only set me back around $300 for everything too.

While I was at it, I went ahead and did the top reflector project too. Its almost impossible not to scrape the inside plastic with the drill bit when doing it and with clear corners it shows more. I haven't ordered my 194 LED bulbs yet for it, but i think with the bulbs in, it will camo the small scrapes I did.

What color bulbs did you get for the reflectors?

I haven't ordered any yet. I'm leaning towards white, but think orange might look cool. Not sure

Yeah, I think amber would look nice, match the parking lights. Would just make sure the base is clear, like this:
http://v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/CornerSide-Marker-LED/Amber-LED/2-SUPER-AMBER-6-LED-LIGHT-p4481074-1-2.html
Also, if I had known you bought those corners I would of told you to silicone them, I had the same ones and they manage to get water in them.
I think he went ahead and bought the TYC HID kit.

Yeah, just silicone the corners to be safe because they will start to collect water and the chrome will start to peel off. Either that or just drill some drain holes.

I still need to paint the screws heads on the parking lights and order LED bulbs to fill the corners.
I have my billet inserts off as well because the paint is flaking off and im debating having them powder coated all black instead of chrome and black. What do you guys think. I'm "murdering" it out, so im thinking i might just keep the bow tie chrome and everything else black.
Next project.....taking off them bumpers and powder coating those black too!

looks really good. keep up the good work.. youll have to get some nite shots with your camera and truck soon too. How did those headlights go in? after redoing mine, i notice peoples headlights are always cocked up and down side to side.. yours look good tho.. the adjusters and shit always strip on them, but yours dont look to bad!
bumpers would look tits powdercoated!
PS> id take that bug deflector off : )

my old headlights adjustments stripped out too. I spent a lot of time aligning these. I must have put on and taken off the grill 100 times.
Night shots for sure in the near future. I like it due to the fact that it makes it look really clean.

After taking the parking lights out, I accidentally put one upside down and, of course, it rained that night. We’ll needless to say the light filled up with water and ruined the inner chrome. After pouring out the water, the plastic chroming started flaking out like crazy.
I was able to return the light but now I’m back to square one with parking lights.
I was thinking about these:
http://www.stylintrucks.com/parts.aspx?category|category_root|-26=Lighting&category|cat_-26|143=Clear+Corner+Lenses&partfamilyid=6234
But was thinking maybe just going back to the ole crystal clear w/ LED bulbs inside.
What do you think?

youll pay a hefty price on those LEDS. but dang that sucks. water really took a toll on that light huh? sucks
mikeykey
07-21-2009, 11:27 PM
Yeah, it screwed them up pretty bad. I know i'd fork out $200 for the lights but the other option (clear euro with led bulbs) would put me pretty close i'm guessing.
Perplexed....
haks310
07-21-2009, 11:43 PM
Yeah, a nice pair of TYC parking lamps will run you $60 and two sets of nice LEDs for $110.
mikeykey
07-22-2009, 01:35 AM
Well, just ordered the one's from Stylintrucks..... I did however find a $10 coupon off for any order though (enews).
I just paid more for my parking lights than I did my TYC HID headlights...now that sucks...
---------- Post added at 01:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:33 AM ----------
btw, the first cheaper LED parking/bumper lights were not that bright either. Just in case someone else was looking to buy some similar.

i know what mean with drilling into the top marker light i used
a step bit and came close to hitting the lense. will the 194 l.e.d
fit in that top hole and they ars brighter to? i took the amber
out the top and tried the white i will be changing it back to amber.

whered you get your TYCs at?? headlights
mikeykey
07-22-2009, 11:06 AM
Atomic, look up "carpartnation" on ebay. I bought them from them for $120 i think. He sells them for $130, but has a "make an offer" thing on his page. I've heard he'll go as low as $110. I should have tried lower.

i can't remember the co. on ebay where i got mine but be sure
the head lights are glass not plastic like the ones i use to have
mikeykey
07-23-2009, 11:37 PM
The TYC lights are plastic lensed and im am nothing but happy with them.
I had the cheap plastic lenses before and they were useless. Leaked and the lense almost came off. Its all about quality with headlights, but if they are plastic or glass.
The TYC light is completly different. I was going to go glass too, but am glad i listen to some guys on here.
AtomicHoe094

deff worth 110 bucks then? i need some head lights bad, but wanted black housings :(

haks310
07-24-2009, 12:02 PM
Buy'em!
You can get them with the HID kit or without...around $240 and $140, respectively.
AtomicHoe094
07-24-2009, 12:26 PM
are the hids worth the extra 100 bucks? any one have pics of theres at nite?
haks310
07-24-2009, 12:31 PM
If I were to do it over I would buy the headlights without the HID kit. The color temp is 4300K, while this offers the most lumens I do not like the color. I have LEDs in the parking lights and they yellow out the HIDs. I will be replacing the kit with a 8000K 55W one. You will be legal if you get the headlights with the HID kit though.
AtomicHoe094
07-24-2009, 12:36 PM
legal?? lol.. where are you buying your new hid kit at?
haks310
07-24-2009, 12:40 PM
Yeah the TYCs with the HID kit are DOT and SAE legal.
DDM Tuning, already coming in.
TahoeGoBoom
07-24-2009, 02:30 PM
I bought my HIDs, now im gettin clears with no HID kit. mostly cuz i wanted 8000k and not the 4300k that comes with it.
AtomicHoe094
07-24-2009, 04:33 PM
so it seems like everyones or well 2 people are taking out the hids that come with the TYCs.. maybe if i order TYC without the hids one of you will hook me up with their old set? :)
haks310
07-24-2009, 04:39 PM
The only problem with that would be the fact that you will be missing the wiring harness. You can still do the kit without it though, but you will not have the 4 Hi mod and your wiring might not be up to it.
AtomicHoe094

07-24-2009, 04:57 PM
Yeah the TYCs with the HID kit are DOT and SAE legal.
DDM Tuning, already coming in.
I wonder how TYC managed that. They're not projectors so they must have achieved the top cutoff through some other means.
I've really got to go over to DDM. They're like 5-10 minute drive from my work. Want to upgrade my wife's car's lights.
haks310
07-24-2009, 05:07 PM
They use D1R bulbs along with a HID reflector. Most Lincoln vehicles with HIDs use this.
Projectors use a D1S bulbs. This is what you are starting to see more and more of.
mikeykey
07-25-2009, 03:04 PM
This is the HID TYC headlight I got off Ebay from carpartnation. They sell for max $130. There is no "extra" cost for HID. I'm not to sure where you guys got the $200 number from.
The only complainant I have is as you can see the high beams are not HID's, which I was quickly told they never are. I think Hak's has a link though to get some bulbs that look like HID's for the high beam.

haks310
07-25-2009, 03:13 PM
Carpartnation sells the TYC HID headlights for $250 then has the "Make Offer" option, always has. The TYC headlight housings without the HID kit are around $140, depending where you get them from.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/88-99-CHEVY-PICKUP-TRUCK-SUBURBAN-HID-CLEAR-HEAD-LIGHTS_W0QQitemZ400061260308QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMot ors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item5d2582621 4&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A2148

I just checked my ebay account and I stand corrected...my bad.
Hak's post above is correct. Always make the offer for at the most $210, since he's accepting that right of the bat.
Worth every cent.

07-26-2009, 01:55 AM
do you guys have a night shot like at whats in front of you? mine right now are 2 like blobs right 10 feet in front of my truck lol.. my fogs are more efficient then the headlights.. HAHA damn cheap ass lights..
So is it worth to get the hids 210 or the other for 140 and get bulbs for it??
haks310
07-26-2009, 01:44 PM
No pictures.
I have driven my brothers Tahoe and I do not know how the fuck he sees at night. He drove mine and now he wants to get the same kit and install HIDs in his wife's Altima.
They are worth the money, only reason I am changing the HID kit is because I do not like the color, I have LED parking lights and they are bluer than the HIDs. The HIDs are 4300K and the LEDs are "comparable to 6000K HIDs". If I was running amber bulbs I would not mind.
