Indeed.. It's On!

So I just bought myself the dream machine. The 2002 Yukon Denali w/ 94K miles on it. Indeed it is up there in the mileage, but yet, by the time I am done getting to know the thing... She will treat me like she was just born yesterday.

First thing I did was take out the middle man. I removed the center console and cleaned up what was underneath it. All the carpet was cleaned up. As well the plastics were soaked in the bathtub.

Once in the bathtub - I wet sanded the plastics.

These pieces were tan/beige at first but now they are a glossy black with metallic gold over spray.

They look good.

Only thing I wonder is what type of CD Player/DVD Player fits with this console... For it has a 6 Disc on the bottom - and a Radio/Casette on the top? Can you fit an aftermarket 6 Disc Changer as well a DVD Top In Dash Unit? Can I keep all the trims and things original? Check out the paint job I did on these plastic pieces.

Damn man, looks great. Keep us posted on the durability factor. Its in an area that gets knocked around so I am curious to see how well it lasts.

Nice work. I am tackling some fender flares this spring and want to the prep work myself. I'll pay to have it painted to match my body by a paint shop. What did you use for paint?

Like A Puzzle...

And of course I must have forgot to let the people know.. That I got myself 2 yards of black vinyl - so that I could wrap up the bottom carpet.

It covers up the old tanish colored carpet that was on the bottom of the main console. The back panel for the second row. That is another story.

The two lighter - aux. caps that snap shut - snapped apart. They broke.

So now that those two broke I must find a couple caps that might take their place.

For sure.. Final touches coming soon.

I am replacing all the interior bulbs with different color bulbs. RED!

Hold On..

Nice work JoeyMiggs, I can't wait to see the pieces in the truck. I never thought of changing the color like that.

I painted mine 3yrs ago because when I bought the console it had the usual chips and cracking paint, and i'm surprised it's holding up so good.

Here's a pic of what I did with mine

I Shoulda Used Metallic Gray!!

Here are some pictures of the Console installed back into the vehicle. As you can see I did leave the Cigarette Cap at it's original grayish color. It makes the gold stick out a little too dark.

It actually didn't turn out as dark as I had wished.

What I might do is take out all the other Wood Grain Trim pieces - and do them in the metallic gold & black as I did the center console. Then what I can do is get a can of metallic gray & high glossy black.. Do it like that.

It would lighten the metallic gold so it wouldn't stand out so dark.

Check out the black vinyl sides on the thing-a-ma-jigga..

And I even found the time to get the door handle covers painted!

Word Up..

What I guess I'm gone to do is basically take out the front dash wood trim - and paint it just like I did the center console. Then once I get it back into the rig.. I will see how it looks together. If it happens to look too dark green/forest green/yellowish/orange - I can take out the center console and sand it down once more - and do it over with metallic gray/silver.

That might be a pain in the behind but I wouldn't mind taking it all out again.

Does anybody know if there are any nice plug and play in dash DVD/CD units out there. Something that I wouldn't have to cut to make fit?

How about a unit and a half? Where the 6 Disc changer can plug n play with the up top in dash plug n play unit?
