too add to the next level of confusion.
2 sensors I picked up from one dealer part#13542523 and 2 sensors from another dealer part#13533166
As a test prior to installing tried to get the Yukon to pair with them with my TPMS tool.
Right away it picked up the PN 13542523 and would not recognize PN 13533166.
I did some reading and the PN13533166 superceeds PN13542523.

Does this make sense? Does it need a GM mechanic tool to read ? are they asleep? do they need pressure? why would 2 work and 2 not work?

So sick of this run around non sense

This post has me a little concerned as I have summer tires/wheels that have the GM TPMS sensors. After reading your post I went to the GMC and the Chevy site to look for the TPMS part numbers and the are identical. I checked for a 2023 GMC Yukon as well as a 2023 Chevy Tahoe HC and they list the same part number, there was no mention of a VIP self learning. The 2022 part numbers for the TPMS sensors are same, below are the correct part numbers,

GM Part # 13542523
ACDelco Part # 13542523
See attached photo for reference when I meant the VIP.
Yes this is for 2021 one can only assume would apply to 2022. either way it was clarified in the following messages

Not sure where you found that 13533166 supersedes 13542523, but if you have that info, share it. Data I see says 13542523 supersedes 13533166, subtle difference. Could be that teh 2523 will work in a vehicle originally shipped w/ 3166, but not the other way around, and that seems to be what you are finding. Or could be both work...

My way of finding the correct P/N was to call the dealer parts counter, give them my VIN, and ask what the P/N is for my vehicle.
I confirmed that when I go to GMC.com, select Parts, then enter my VIN and get the P/N for the TPMS Sensor, it returns 13542523.
A couple reputable online parts houses also return that as the correct TPMS P/N.

P.S. My Wheels, Tires, and Sensors were installed at Discount Tire, and they had no issue programming the four new 13542523's to my vehicle using whatever tools they used...so, don't think it needs a GM mechanic to do it, you just need the correct sensor.

I believe you are correct. Spoke to the dealer today, with my VIN it is 2523. From what I gather the 3166 is an old part number and is not compatible with my yukon as it requires a 2523. They were to discuss with their service department and return my call

Even with a reset it can take some time for the car to learn the new set is on IME. It may have to do with reseting the tpms when the other wheels are too close. I am not sure. But anyway, i had summer setup on with a set of sensors, just switched back to oem with original sensors. It took a day or two and i got a TPMS error (yellow light), but within 10-15 minutes the suburban recognized the wheels (could be seen by pressure differential between 2 setups).
YMMV, if you believe you have the right TPMS sensors give it some time, if it isn't working.
