I have a strong wind noise coming from my Cowl Area....
It starts at about 65mph and just gets worse with speed. At 75 it's bad
enough that not even a head or cross wind is needed to make loud.
2014 Yukon Denali

I have taken apart the cowl and looked for anything out of place or wrong..
The only thing I noticed was the "christmas tree" fastener in the center was bad, so
I replaced it. No difference.

Any help is appreciated.. BTW, it's NOT a mechanical noise at all.. Just a wind noise
like the cowl plastic is "vibrating" ??

Do you have anything like a bug deflector on the front edge of the hood?

Interesting.

Did this noise just start recently or has it been there for awhile?

Have you changed wiper blades recently? If you run you wipers at those speeds, does the noise change or go away in time with wipers?

I do NOT have a bug deflector...
I put on new Wipers during the summer, when I bought the Yukon..
So, maybe I'll try a different set and see if that does anything

Also, to answer questions about history, I bought it in July so I have
no reference to the noise.. In a strong crosswind or headwind it will start and be very annoying by 60 mph

UPDATE: it's been crappy weather for a while so I haven't had the XL out... I did change wiper blades and took it for a drive today
I didn't get the loud howling that I used to get. So 'maybe' that is solved.
I did, however, get a new noise from the passenger area: a high pitched whistling noise at speed.
It was very windy and I was able to get up and over 80 mph ,,, didn't get
the howling that I had before. So that's good

sometimes a whistling noise is from wind flowing around the mirror and nothing you can do about that, you might also take a look at the condition of the passenger door & body weather seals, if they look visibly "worn" it could be wind getting in.

Everything "looks" perfect on seals etc on whole vehicle.
It's 2014 well cared for... but you never know !!
I'll keep looking, but at least for now the really bad howling is gone.
Thanks everyone for the help !!!!
