What's up people, I just happened to run across this forum while searching for DIY repairs and info on the new to us 03 Yukon I scored a pretty good deal for my wife. It's got just over 201k miles on it but I know the particular motor in it can go up to and over 500k if well maintained, or at least that's what I've read and seen a few that have. Anyway that's how I found myself here thanks for this place existing, I'm sure I'll find good info here. Have a good one.

Welcome to the Forum from NH. This is the BEST Forum, IMO. But, I believe that there is also a GMT800 Forum, which will be special to you, as well. @OR VietVet can give you a pointer on that one.

Lots of knowledgeable folks here who freely share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. Knowledge is power.

I hope that you will become a participating member in the Forum's discussions.

Pics of the truck, please.

Ask away, and the great folks here will respond.

Yes I have yet to take pictures of the Yukon, I will write myself a note to remember to do that tomorrow during the daylight haha. It's all black with tan interior and sits on some 22" rims. It's also got a 2k watt amp and 2 15" kicker comps in the back. I plan on getting some new door speakers for it, along with a lot of other things but that can wait, since I have a few lingering issues I have to resolve first.

Here's a few pictures as promised. The interior needs work and im currently sliding back the tranny to replace the rear main seal. I talked the kid I bought it from to let me keep the system for 200$ the two 15's alone were worth that. It's sitting on some 22's with brand new tires on it. It was driven to the kids college in south Kansas and back to Norman Oklahom every two weeks a little over 201k miles. It was maintained engine wise, the 5.3L purrs like a kitten, although the kid did tell me it had an oil leak. So I replaced the oil pan gasket and it doesn't leak anymore, however the rear main seal is also leaking and I'm in the process of changing those gaskets as well. And since its a 4x4 its a real PITA to change compared to a 2wd. The front transfer case doesn't leak but the rear one might be I am going to check its fluid level next time I'm under it, if that gasket needs replaced that will be much easier than the rear main seal i'm sure. The interior needs work the drivers seat is in not great shape its missing some of the foam and part of the upholstery on it is shredded, the passenger seat is in alright shape but It also needs upholstery work too. The back seat is in good shape, a couple rips but nothing serious. Luckily some neighbors down the street also have an 01 Tahoe and pulled the back seat and passenger seat and stuck them out by the road so I quickly swooped them up same color upholstery too. I'll be using the passenger seat to replace the foam in the driver's seat and some of the upholstery to patch the seat back together. (I'm poor so I do all the work on our vehicles) I've lucked out on the system I convinced the kid to throw in for 200 bucks, which was a hell of a deal because the 2 15 inch kickers are worth that. I upgraded the hot and ground wires on it to improve the power the amp is getting and I retired the subs in parallel to be in sync and reduce the load on the amp. It only has a 2k watt amp, despite that you can definitely hear me before you see me in it. I will say the kid at least kept oil in it because the motor doesn't tick or ping at all, it shifts smooth and rolls real smooth down the road, havent tested the 4x4 mode yet, I will when I make sure the transfer cases both have the right amount of fluid in them I'd hate myself for burning either of them up the kid put a K&N cold air intake on it and got rid of the factory box and he also put some high end plug wires on it thay have some high performance coil packs on them. I haven't looked into them but my buddy that seen them said their expensive af. My wife loves it. It definitely needs caught up on maintenance but that was expected with a used vehicle.
