Speaking of rears, the 10 bolt isn't as weak as some people think. The 8.5/8.6 10 bolt can take some abuse; it's the smaller 7.5 and 8.2" 10 bolts that are weak and tend to break behind any kind of power. Look at the turbo Grand Nationals; a few mods can get the front wheels off the ground and still run the stock 8.5" 10 bolt.
Granted, even the 8.5/8.6 isn't as strong as a 12bolt or Ford 9", but it can be built to handle a decent amount of power. I built mine and haven't had any issues behind a boosted 6.0 sitting on heavy 24s that gets abused and sees the track once in a while, not to mention in a suv that weighs in at almost 6100lbs on the scale. I fabbed up reinforcing braces along the top and front of the assembly, welded the axle tubes, and rebuilt with a Detroit true-trac, 4.56 Yukon gears, custom Moser axles, TA girdle, & ARP carrier cap studs. Also installed a temp gauge to keep track of my diff temps since it's still my DD and a tows every now and then.FB_IMG_1528982851446.jpg FB_IMG_1528982922933.jpg FB_IMG_1528983048126.jpg FB_IMG_1528983080276.jpg FB_IMG_1528983030188.jpg
