For those of you who have done so already, did you or would you have purchased a second ECU/PCM to have an “original” on hand and a second one for your deletes/custom tunes?
I know some of you have the emissions inspections, so do those require changing things around for each inspection. Has anyone had their AFM delete reset by the stealership? Or is that a moot point for them right now with all of the recent legal concerns GM is battling?

So it actually got up to 46° yesterday afternoon. Damn near all of the snow was melted, minus the bigger piles or anywhere shadowed from the sun. I wake up this morning and we already have about 4” of fresh powder with another 10” expected by this afternoon/evening.
As much as I despise the cold with each passing year, at least it’s not such a sloppy mess. Or at least that’s what I told myself this morning when I went out feed the horses and do chores.

Only one more week of looking at this tundra @swathdiver but if you want me to bring any of it down with me, I won’t be able to fit more than a couple handfuls in the motorhome freezer.

Edit: dog stepped out back with me, made it about ten feet before realizing that she didn’t approve of this big bucket of NOPES!View attachment 362184View attachment 362185
My attempt at a panorama…was thwarted at the finish line by her attempted photobomb.
Lol. My Malamute goes out and lays in the snow like he’s saying “Where have you been old friend?”

Both of my trucks have BB tunes and I don't keep an extra ECU. If I ever needed to swap in a stock tune, I can use the Autocal tool that BB provided to do it, but I haven't needed to. I couldn't on my 2012 anyway because it has a 3-bolt cam now so the stock tune wouldn't run.

The stealership won't typically mess with the ECU unless they're performing a service that would require them to. Even at that, I see no problem with telling them it has a special tune and not to mess with it if you drop it off there for service.

Noted. Thanks.
I haven’t made the jump over to BB just yet. We were discussing some options, since any mod changes I make will have to be adjusted with the tune as well. I haven’t decided if I want to do the cam swap or not, because I feel like if I do the cam swap (lifters, guides, timing chain, cover, plates…etc) then I might as well put on headers and a different exhaust on it as well.

At 100k miles I’m not sure if it’s a wise move or if I should just wait until some changes are made to the 2023-2025 Denali’s and send one down to Hennessey before I even bring it home.

Did you go with the 3-bolt because of the VVT delete or was there another reason to switch (am I thinking about the difference between the 5.3 vs the 6.2)?

I sure have enjoyed the added power of a better cam in my 6.2L. It really is night and day in terms of power between our non-cammed 2007 and our cammed 2012. I didn't bother with the headers or exhaust upgrades because I didn't want to spend the extra money, and the stock system on the Denali flows pretty well. I definitely would make the upgrade if I were adding a blower, however.

If you have the means to buy a new one in that timeframe and have Hennessy do their magic, you'll love it, and I'll love following along on your journey. Every now and then I get the urge for a new one, too. They sure are sweet.

Glad to hear you got her figured out. How much fun were those oil cooler lines - that was your first time ever doing them correct? Did you end up cutting out the old ones to make it easier on yourself, or were you able to get them removed in one piece?
Are you planning on swapping out your trans cooler with something “rated” for use in our sized SUV’s (one that’s rated for keeping up with the towing capacity that the Yuks/Hoes have)?

I did both my oil cooler and trans cooler lines at the same time or at least in the same weekend. If I remember correctly the trans cooler lines seemed easier to install, but I also may have had some other stuff removed/unhooked that made the job less of a headache while laying on a creeper.
Yes, first time doing the cooler lines. It wasn't too bad. But yes, I did cut the hoses, no need to keep them intact. It was much easier to pull them out that way. The dumb radiator clips slowed me down, but I found a video on YouTube that helped with removing them.

I think the shop I took my rotors to get replaced quoted me $600 to replace the transmission cooler lines. I'm rethinking about doing it myself.

I have a truCool 40K Trans cooler and bracket from Atomic Fabrication TruCool 40k Trans Cooler Mount, if you're interested? I just moved, so I can will find it next week and ship. Atomic has awesome motor mounts, too!

Especially if you've had it all or most of them 100K miles, it's just now broken-in. Disabling or deleting AFM can never be done soon enough, IMO. Getting the trans shifting cleaned up with a proper tune should also be done ASAP to help ensure you get as much life outta the trans as possible.

100K is nothing. Look how I celebrated mine reaching 200K :D

I don’t have a problem with the exhaust. Well not a problem with the exhaust currently, since the gaskets, manifolds have been replaced due to broken bolts. Personally I haven’t done a cam swap since the 90’s, and no longer own an engine hoist, so I would have to find a shop that I can trust to do quality work.
I would much rather prefer to pay more for someone to take their time and do the job right than to get a “deal” on someone rushing things just trying to crank out work. Someone who puts pride in their work vs someone who will argue when their shoddy work is questioned or things go wrong.
The means aren’t an issue on the Henney, it’s more an issue of not being 100% happy with the new Denalis they have put out recently. Yes there are some nice features, but I drove a 2020 for several months while I was working on Omega (‘11) and I wasn’t sold. We shall see what the future holds in their next year or two. I’ll be curious if they end up dropping/changing the AFM from production to save on warranty costs.

I’ve had it for about half of its [mileage] life, maybe more than half, but I’ve owned it since 2013. It’s lived in a garage all except the first year, but wasn’t hardly driven that winter. She’s done a significant amount of towing and after seeing the condition of the ATF, I can see the need for zip kit, and torque converter in the near future.
So it’s probably best to knock out that stuff and a new cam before the BB tune. But yes, absolutely best to be done sooner rather than later.

I only watched them shiver in the cold.

this morning with only ice, and a moment ago.

I am with you! I would love a new one but I cannot swallow down the better part of of owning a house for something that depreciates so rapidly! Good god, they are nice but damn, 6 figures for a fully dressed and tuned vehicle is just not justifiable in my world.

the BB tune can be installed and uninstalled or vica-versa in less than 2 minutes
that being said I did buy a spare ecu because mine is stuck with a hypertech tune and I wasn't sure if it would smog with the new CA rules but because it has a carb sticker it was fine
so my spare sits on the shelf as a"spare" lol
