That shit is the reason I made friends with a guy that owns a local body shop that has exactly 2 employees plus the owner and one of those is his wife who runs the office. They’re like mechanics- the good honest ones are unicorns. I no longer let any mechanic work on my rigs but I have a great body shop that I trust. Keep making them fix it until it’s right to YOUR standards, don't sign over the insurance check until they do, and don’t settle on the injury claim until you get what’s right.
Spot on brother... Spot on... Unicorns are right....

Just my opinion but I can't believe your insurance just didn't total the vehicle and give you a check. Most insurance companies look at what the Blue Book value of the vehicle is and compare that number to the cost of getting it fixed and go from there. Vehicle is worth $10K and it's going to cost $15K to repair it...just total it and give you the check for what its worth and move on. Certain damage is an immediate write off, such as if the windscreen side or support brackets are damaged...instant write off. They can never be repaired so a factory or new windscreen will fit and not eventually crack or leak. Which is good to know as if you wanted to total your ride...get a baseball bat or steel rod...those pesky vandals do some pretty rotten shit don't they!

As for your personal injury and time lost...SEE A LAWYER! The insurance company will low ball you every time. It's their job to get off with giving you the lesser amount and closing the case. Most back injuries are lingering and never really go away and you end up in physical therapy for quite a while. A lawyer, blood suckers that they are, are good at making the insurance company live up to the terms of the policy...and then some.

One note is that when your vehicle is totaled the insurance company takes possession of the vehicle. They turn around and sell it to a scrapyard for pennies on the dollar or sell it at an insurer's auction. If you want the vehicle back you can always go to the 'yard or auction and buy it back. The insurance company doesn't care as long as they recoup some, if not all, of their money. Sometimes parts, sold separately, are worth more than the intact vehicle.

I was amazed also... not one real mechanic has looked at it and checked my concerns, everyone has only done body work, they justify it as a side glance hit that didnt hit the suspension, but the damage photos given to the insurance does show, bent trac bar, axle housing leaking, and trans slips 2-3 shift...

I lawyered up today after they lowballed me again on the payout for injury. 2500 bucks and 2 days off work, that's it. No negotiation etc. My personal take was it was at the threshold for total, due to suspension and trans, but now.... somewhat fixed body work etc, just dont get it. Shop I think combed over this stuff to get paid, that's it.

Man what an afternoon of BS.... Yall want in on the fun?

So My bank account got charged for 5 days of rental car. Still have yet to receive that back, or any indication of compensation, got fed up and took the rental car back since I'm the one floating their shortcomings.

I gave them a figure to not go to a lawsuit, they didn't even counter or nothing, so hired an attorney yesterday.

My attorney instructed me to receive the burb from the body shop once complete and park it, they will instruct what needs to happen next so bring it home and park it.

And here I thought state farm was a pain in the ass to deal with, this company takes the cake....

Looks like my ole 56 dodge will be my daily for a while again. THe old gal always has my back....

Be prepared for the long haul. They like to make you wait for as long as they can, hoping you’ll cave since time is in their favor. When my $45k Harley bagger I built was totaled due to an uninsured driver, my own insurance (Allstate) was on the hook for the bill. The max on my uninsured motorist coverage was $50k and they offered $17k for a stock bike. I submitted receipts totaling $46k for parts and the original amount I paid for the used bike. They took a month, then came back with $23k. I knew my rights and had an appraisal done, it came out at $47k. They said no way a bike could be worth that much and hired their own appraiser. Ha came back at $42k. Finally, 3 months after the accident, they split the appraisals and countered at $44k. Good thing I wasn’t waiting on that money to get a new daily.

Yeah @Rocket Man ******** for sure... My garage fleet, has hagerty, the collector insurance is quite good, agreed value and all, bike insurance is a pain in the ass for sure, and anything customized is a fight of fights with insurance anyways.

So went by the body shop yesterday, checked out their work, and was pretty dang close to being where it was.

Left there to pickup kid from school, got a call from adjuster, they are sending out a specialist to the body shop to put hands on the vehicle FINALLY. So it stays there till they look at it, I am guessing the attorney letter made them start jumping, and maybe supervisor looked at photos of under damage I provided finally and decided it was worth a second look? MAYBE were on the point to finally getting that stuff addressed, and when I brought up rental car, they don't know what happened..

So Ill drive my ole 56, enjoy the good weather were having here for a few days or weeks.
