I'm new to this site, though I have been visiting throughout the past year or so while repairing and upgrading my '08 Yukon XL SLT. Some brief background info: I have essentially re-designed my SLT as a Denali in appearance on the exterior and interior; last step (most likely) on the outside is the chrome roof rail/rack upgrade, which I am soon to install.

Now for the point of this post: the interior is done, for my initial purposes, but I do wonder now about having the door panel armrest, handle, and elbow pad sections upholstered in leather like the Denali door panels. Have any of you with the '07-'14 generation attempted this or paid a professional to do so?

Note: I know I could swap door panels, but that's not a desired option--would rather leave as is, if upholstery is not possible. Also, the "SLT" panel image is technically from a Chevy, but hopefully it illustrates what my stock panels look like. If this is something previously discussed, I apologize.

Interesting. I haven't been inside a Yukon of this year with the upholstered panels, but I figured they would be more comfortable than the rubber/plastic surface I have--aside from looking nicer, of course.

I would appreciate any further insight as to why you don't like them so much, if you wouldn't mind.

I put Cadillac door panels and trim in my Tahoe swapped from tan to the black

I almost did that after finding some mint condition Escalade door panels that matched my color and panel style (07-09), but passed on the almost $900 purchase. I would have tried to negotiate a better price, but I still didn't think it was worth it considering where else that money could go.

The bug may get me again one day, but I'm still glad I passed on that purchase. Would've looked great, though!

I am also interested in doing this to my 09 Chevy Tahoe LS. I hate hard ass plastic..not classy at all.

Can't help but agree with you. Considering the sheer amount of faux materials in these vehicles, though, I've come to accept the rubber/plastic parts for now.

I think, unless I find a great deal on a set of Denali/Escalade panels for a swap, I'll hold out for a full upholstery job on all the embossed leather textured plastics and rubber if possible--in lieu of a new vehicle.

What I ultimately cared most about was the chrome accent around the speaker to match the other Denali trim components I added, and I found a cheap solution for that which suffices for now.

If I ever get around to seeing an upholstery shop for a quote, I'll update to give others interested an idea of cost.

Yea if it weren’t for my good friend Cameron getting that parts Escalade to rob for the Camaro I wouldn’t have ever done it. He literally gave me anything I wanted off the truck because he was scrapping it once he got the powertrain
