Tune-up

Looking for suggestions on spark plugs and wires --what's recommended? Any part #'s and sites would be helpful too. I have a 02 Tahoe with 105k on it which I just bought and would like to do a tune-up since one hasn't be done.

For our trucks, oem is probably best. AC delco iridium or NGK plugs and wires. You can get them at local auto parts store, ebay, or gmpartsdirect.com. Plug # 41-110, wires # 748gg or 748hh.
Here's a quote from Scottyboy- "Delco, Denso, or NGK are all fine as long as you get the Iridium plugs. All three were also used as OEM plugs. I bought my Delco plugs from Advance autoparts. I am doing Delco OEM iridium plugs this week. I pulled my plugs to check and they are so toasted. No wider start up it so rough!

i just changed my plugs and wires a couple of weeks ago. stock plugs and wires. (densos) also had 242xxx miles on them and the electrodes were completely gone but i went with NGK tr5s and msd wires. purrs like a kitten now

Pretty straight forward. Sometimes the boot rips off of the plug and might have to grab them with pliers. Most difficult part may be getting to the rear passenger side plug. This is were a universal extension comes in handy.

I believe the difference is 748gg's are 9.1 inches and the 748hh's are 10.5 inches. So measure your stock ones and order the ones comparable to yours.

Just did mine before I left for workforabit. Rear passenger side was hell I didn't use an extension thought I bought it and bunch of other stuff. I got one of those magnetic spark plug sockets.

I got just autozone wires though. The wires in there were the Original ones from the manufacturer. Said Delphi and were extremely corroded. Three of them were broken.

Looked like (this was not even the worst) I saw the size of that gap and freaked out. I am surprised the thing even started with a gap that big.

I think 50-60k ? I have hear every 75k as well.

I ordered fuel filter and the tool. Is.it pretty easy with the tool?

i dont remember the fuel filter taking a special tool. while you guys are doing tune ups, you should clean your throttle body, mass air meter, and seafoam the pcv hose and gas tank. between plugs/wires, and these simple $15-$20 cleaners, your truck will feel like you took 50k off the odometer

oh it was way better. didnt nearly crank as long as before i did the plugs. and that picture looks 2 times better than what mine did. the electrodes on all 8 of mine were flat with the base of the plug.... i would also def recommend yanking ur throttle body off and scrubbing the hell out of it. i need to yank my egr and see what kind of condition its in. but i hooked up my scanner and thre emissions readiness gave me a green light. prior to the plugs and wires i had lean error codes on both banks and all sorts of random missfires. im ready to get the chance to get her on the highway for a few hours and see how she does mileage wise
