Hello internet brethren:

I'm trying to find a video that shows me how to replace the rear hub on my 2010 Yukon XL... And I can't find one. There's about a billion videos on how to replace the fronts, but nothing for the rear. Anybody have a link, or clue why there aren't any?

That is because it is not a hub. It is a bearing and seal that is pressed in to the end of the axle tube. You have to drain the rear diff fluid. Here is a video.

In the video they will likely talk about special tools needed. I always just used the very end of the axle shaft to pry the seal out of the end of the tube. I have the special bearing removal tools he is showing but you can use a slide hammer with a hook on the end to pull it. It will likely come apart when you do it that way though. Then you press in the new bearing with a bearing driver, actually hammer it in and use the right size to put the new seal in. Inspect the axle bearing surface where the bearing rides on the axle. Want it nice and smooth. If is nicked or pitted, you should get a new axle or get the fixer bearing that spaces the bearing ride spot on the axle to a different position. I believe that if you use that it will have the seal in that special bearing assembly.

That fixer bearing kit will look like this: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=1118215&cc=1445305&jsn=3406

Standard bearing looks like this: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=92075&cc=1445305&jsn=3405

Standard seal looks like this: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=9481784&cc=1445305&jsn=3415

Why are you changing the hub/bearing and seal?

I'm getting a lot of bearing noise on that side, and the front was changed not that long ago... That's looking like it's more than I can handle. Unfortunate.

Too bad. I can do both sides and refill fluid and reinstall brakes and wheels/tires in about 2 hours tops. If you take to a shop they will likely ask for 4 hours. When I look up my 2002 Tahoe at AllData it calls for 3.7 hours labor. Basically the same work on yours.
