I typically tow my 6,700 pound Travel Trailer in 2wd mode along with Tow/Haul mode. Should I be towing in a different drive mode or is 2wd the safest on the transmission? Someone else told me (non Tahoe owner) that they tow in Auto.

What Pete said! You can put it into Auto if you get into some bad rain or snow and stick it into 4WD if you need the traction to get down a dirt trail or to park it.

2wd or Auto is fine on street for towing
4wd only offroad when traction needed

I will say that I leave mine in 2wd 99% of the time. That is to reduce wear and tear on components. In nasty weather I put it into AWD. And immediately put back into 2wd afterwards.

in AWD mode the front axle and hubs are engaged. The t-case is partially engaged as well. Lot of moving components spinning. So if you don't need it, put into 2wd so everything can take a rest.

Not to mention you will get a little better MPG in 2wd.
