What stock is temperature for the thermostat in my 07 6.2L Yukon Denali?

Will it cause any problems if I install one that is 10 degrees lower than stock?

Thanks

Thanks, I read it, but I'm gonna give it a try anyway. I'll go to NAPA, get one about 10 degrees cooler than stock. My L92 all aluminum 6.2 is extra ******* oil in our TX heat, even thou I drive like a little ol lady.

I'll let yawl know what thr data shows at the next oil change and UOA report.

I got on the Stant thermostat website area and they list a 180 degree,pt # 15150, but I haven't been able to find one anywhere? Anybody know where I can find one?

Stock is 190 degrees, pt# 15158, it's readily available.

I did find an online seller of the 160 degree, pt# 15156, but I prefer a 180 # 15150.

523180 is the Motorad brand part for the 180*
I just ordered it from rockauto
I put in an OE temp stat last summer. But now that I'm modding it, I feel
better with it running a tad cooler.. 160* is way too cold for an LS motor..
Even though in the summer it would still run about 190 ish.
I run a 160* in my old school small block chevy truck. But it's highly modified
and supercharged. I don't drive it it the winter... But on cooler days
it will run 165-175* which is too cool for an LS. ( I have a really big cooling system).

I am installing the mishimoto radiator in my 2014 Denali now with the supercharger.
But if I wasn't going SC, i'd use the stock rad and stock temp stat

I may be wrong but I was told years ago that running too cool of a thermostat will effect fuel mileage. The coolant temp sensor sends a cooler reading and that messes with the calibration thru the ecm for fuel delivery, as a lean or rich mixture. That may be old info from years back but I always stuck with stock temp and had no problems and never experimented so I have no real data.

You are very correct about running too cool.. There is a threshold built into
the programming. That's why a 180* should be just fine , esp in warmer weather/climate
The engine will usually run several degrees above the "regulated" amount, depending
on the capacity/condition of the cooling system
Now a 160* , if cooling system is very good, would cause issues with fuel enrichment'
unless you changed the temp/fuel tables in the pcm
In my case, in my old chevy , the computer looks for the 160* as the "normal"
operating temp and fuel enrichment for a cold engine is turned off above this

In our late model LS motors, you would have to do the same if you actually were
able to run that cool. But, in a daily driver (not race)... Running 160-180 would
shorten the life of the motor quite a bit. Everything is set up to run around 200*
