The car won't turn off/on

I got out of the car with the key before turning it off. Now the car is in this limbo where all of the electronics are on, but the engine is off. It won't let me turn the car on or off by pushing the start button. What can I try to reset the car?

Edit - solved by pushing the office button without my foot on the brake.

Try sticking the fob in the small square shelf inside center console
