I am vaguely recalling a preference of powering the Tech 2 through the DLC external power port (not the one on the Tech 2 itself) when programming modules, or some such thing. Sorry about the tease, but I'll have to see if I can find the detail. Dr. Shock may have mentioned it in a video.
When not programming, it's a nice feature to power the Tech 2 with external power so it doesn't reset when cycling the key. I wish there was a way to store vehicles in the software.
