Swapping a Denali AWD to an actual 4x4

How hard is it to swap out my 2005 Denali AWD for an actual 4x4 transfer case? I'd like it to stay looking basically factory. My goals are to improve gas/tire mileage and to gain a Low range four wheel drive.

Anyone ever try this?

It has been done but I dont know the details of the swap. I expect the swap would be from a 2500 truck since they are both 6.0L (LQ9 & LQ4) with 4L80E trannys and different transfer cases (AWD & 4x4). You wont notice much difference between the swap but will gain more from full 4x4 high and low.
