This may be something you shouldn't put off. Get the front on jack stands so you can try to rock each wheel up and down and left and right to check for ball joint and tie rod slack. Spin each wheel to listen for bearing noises. Crawl underneath to look for the common broken sway bar end link. Front end looseness isn't something to take lightly as it could be something on the verge of total failure. These things don't take very well to three-wheelin' it on the highway.

What @iamdub said. Steering and brakes are the 2 most important things on any vehicle, IMO. Needs to be inspected by someone who knows what to look for and knows how to inspect it.
