My steering box is leaking PS fluid from the seal around the pitman arm shaft. Still debating whether to go for a seal replace on the box (probably won't .. lookes too complicated/hassle) or to replace with a reman. It seems to be the consensus at most/all reman steering boxes are crap and will leak soo if not right away?

My question is this ... does anyone have an opinion on a good reman steering box? Am I doing the right thing here or should I learn how to change the seals on my current box?

Either rebuild yourself, have someone who knows how to do it rebuild w/ good parts, or see if you can track down an OE unit. Not sure if that's even on the table, I haven't checked.

I really hate to be that guy that screams OEM for everything. But seriously. I've become thoroughly disenchanted with aftermarket parts as a whole over the last 4 years. It's horrible. Unless someone specializes in a particular area and have dedicated themselves to producing better parts (Mechman, Rareparts, etc) you best stick with factory if you're looking to run long term. Realistically, the stuff that came on your vehicle's lasted 13+ years.

Mine was leaking and made a puddle over time, poured the recommended ammount of atp 205 and a few 100 miles later it was bone dry. Its been over a year and change, no leaks so far. I did it as idc if it made my brake booster leak. Because it already leaked. Planning to rebuild that here pretty soon doing all seals although only the plunger that connects to my pedal is leaking 30 dollars sure beats a cardone unit that may or may not last.
