Today I got a recurring (3 different times) message on the little screen on the dash, above the steering wheel: "Service Park Assist". The message was proceeded by a short beep/alarm. All three times came in a row, while stopped at three consecutive red lights, after having been parked in a level asphalt lot, on a cloudless, 60°F day. Each time, I cleared the message the normal way by depressing the check mark on the right thumb button of the steering wheel. The Tahoe was carrying me, the wife, and our 8-year-old granddaughter, with no other significant cargo.

This has happened before, in very rare instances, ever since I've owned it. I've always ignored it in the past. Finally thought I'd ask about it. 2016 Tahoe, LTZ, 145,000 miles, 100% stock. My parking assist sensors appear to be working fine.

Any clues/ideas?

How did you test the sensors to confirm that they 'appear to be working fine'?

Do you have access to a quality bi-directional scanner? The scanner will give you information on the source of the issue, and if it is sensor related, it will tell you which sensor is causing the issue.

Never mind; had a dead battery yesterday. With a new battery, the messages stopped...(Until next time I suppose). I'm guessing the persistent messages were a warning of the imminent battery failure. I've noticed this on my Tahoe, my Vette, and even on my motorcycle: whenever I start getting strange messages from the info system, a battery failure soon follows. And a battery replacement cures it.

Anyhow, I have never "tested" the parking assist system, except to observe that it seems to always be working as it should.
