I have a set of Toyo GO2's on mine and they have "micro-bit" technology, which in layman's terms is Walnut Shells, and they are absolutely incredible tires, I have a set on my truck and my wife's Torrent....and I have NO worries with her on the road in our Canadian winters... except for the other yahoo who isn't prepared..... for me it is Toyo Winters all the way

Ha! I remember hearing that too. Almond shells or something. Not sure if that's still true. Here is info on their process today

Well, third year in and I’m still above the 50% mark meaning I’m still in the blizzaks ‘secret sauce zone’. Last year for them as I doubt l’ll still have the truck next winter but the tires are doing great.

Are these the same as the Defender LTX? And when you say they’re great, is there a lot of snow where you live?

Here’s what I’ve found on the LTX M/S:

“The M/S of the Michelin LTX M/S stands for Mud & Snow, and while the tires certainly hold their own in the mud, these all-season tires shouldn’t be used long term in anything but light snow. If you live in a high-snowfall area, you may get away with using these tires in the late fall and early spring, but you’ll want a dedicated winter tire.” https://shedheads.net/michelin-defender-reviews/

But if you’re talking LTX WINTER:

That's good to know, so they last longer now. Have you ever considered the Michelin X-Ice?

Yes. I think blizzaks, xice and Nokian are all the top ones.

I find that review odd. It criticizes the Defenders for poor tread life but applauds them for being inexpensive compared to other tires. I've never heard either of those things said about Defenders before, ever.

I asked you guys in July and thank you all for the Defender recommendation. I spent all day on the road today in my RWD Tahoe. Snowed for 15 hours straight here. Ice, snow everywhere. These tires are incredible.
