Did not know about the PF63. You can also use a PF61E if your auto store has them in stock.PF61??? I use the PF63 which is a long PF48. How many miles and what is your oil pressure at idle Ali?
My 00 5.3 requires a PF48. I matched one up with a PF61E several years ago and it was the same diameter so I gave one a try and it fits just like the PF48. I also matched up a PF61 and a PF61E these are two different filters that look almost identical but have completely different part numbers. The Thread Plate on the 61 is different than the 61E. I actually bought a PF61 just to see if it would fit but after reading your reply sounds like it won't. I have looked at the PF63 and wondered if it would fit but never tried one so I will exchange my PF61 for a PF63 and see how it fits. The PF61 has SAE threads fellas. If yours originally had the PF44 or PF46 then the former is ok according to various forums. If yours originally called for the PF48 with metric threads, such as the GMT900s, then the PF63 is the long version and similar in spec. Many dealerships, later GM bulletins and newer GM autos have switched over from the PF48 to the PF63. Did not mean to create confusion.
