My stock z71 suspension was getting worn out at 95,000 miles, so I upgraded it.

I went with a Fox 2.0 setup - the front got ~2” of lift with the new coil over, and the rear got a smidge over 1” of lift from a .75” rancho spring spacer and the new fox shocks. I added the .75” spacer so I could keep a bit of the factory rake.

I haven’t had the chance to wash it and take nice photos yet, but we took it on a nice long drive to the western slope today and I’m really pleased with the ride and the lift.

Shout out to this forum and this thread - lots of good info here that helped me with my choices.

I’m debating doing a Bilstein suspension lift at 2.5” w/ 35’s. I did that previously on my Excursion and it looked and drove great. If I go this 35” tire route I would go ahead and swap the 3.42 to a 4.10.

On the flip side, I don’t go on trails in mountains much anymore. Just the level and 33’s will probably be fine and it looks great as it is. This approach is also much cheaper.

I have to buy the suspension either way, as the factory stuff has 117k on them and I like a good riding and handling vehicle. So I’m getting fresh stuff either way. Also I probably will be buying tires soon either way. Have about 10-15k more life in them which is about 1 year.

Would you lift it or leave it alone?

Thanks

Yeah and I agree. It’s funny how the missing 1” off tire from wear, effects the look and stance. Wonder how much sag I’m getting from worn suspension? If it’s an inch, then that is 2” total ride height I’m not getting.

Tried a couple of leveling routes..first lowered the rear and the truck handled great with a lower center of gravity but wanted more ground clearance and had some slight rubbing with the +1s on 20”s up front ….so back to stock springs in the rear and leveled the front…1.5” Max Racing lift, Bilsteins, PowerStop brakes, and Nolathane sway bars with upgraded links front and rear. Although worked through leveling both ends, raising the front was the best choice overall. Ended up going back to stock sway bar to soften up the ride on the rural roads around here so if anyone is in need of a Nolathane rear sway, it’s available

Looks killer. I can’t really see front bumper bc of shadow. Have any more pics of front end?

Would love to see more pics of the rock sliders. I assume these are custom as well?
If you click on my profile and go into albums there are a few pictures with the sliders. They are Trailgear generic sliders which I chopped down to fit.

@snives Thanks, I sure like the new approach angle! I was wondering how much of a minimalist bumper and winch mountI could get away with without leaving the rad etc exposed, so that gives me a pretty good idea. Trying to stay away from a big cow-catcher.

What part of the Trailgear sliders did you chop down? They're tucked up nicely. I had a similar set on my old Toyota.

I chopped the front and rear portion maybe 2-3" then welded new caps on. I did it that way because they extended a little to close to the tires and I wanted to make sure that if I go larger than 35s they don't end up being in the way.
