S vs R Starter question

I have a 1992 Chevy P30 stepvan with a 5.7 TBI motor. Starter fried and i pulled out an aftermarket gear reduction one with a single post other than the battery post and my replacement starter is an original one with 2 post one stamped "S" and the other stamped "R", does anyone know which post i attach it to......"S"???? Cant find much info. Thanks

Attach the small wire to the terminal closest to the engine block. You can test this with a pair of jumper cables, good way to test a starter and see how it works.
