running rich

like it says folks. the exhaust has the smell of running rich. ALL THE TIME! i heard that it might be the sensor on the intake right before the masflow. anybody got some insight on this? any help is much appreciated. rollin' down to the beach next week and don't need any hassles or ****** gas milage. so help a brutha out.

So no codes about it at all yet? I would not think the intake air temp could richin it up that much but only make minor recalculations to the fuel and ignition maps. If you can look down into and sniff the plenum to see if fuel is puddling around inside. You could read your plugs to see if it is just one bank doing it which would be indicative of a funky O2 sensor. A local Autozone store might be able to use their scanner to see live data so you can look at the O2's for activity and borrow their fuel pressure gauge to verify proper fuel system operation. That should all be free of cost right now.

oh I figured out why I had no codes....no damn bulb. so tomorrow im gonna run by Autozone and do like you said. plus buy some new bulbs for the dash...smh...

My sensor busted a few weeks ago. When it did, mine started running rich also. To my understanding its because the engine uses the sensor to adjust the gas to air ratio, so with out a signal it runs rich.

Coolanttemp sensor. I'd check it. Mine was that and o2
