I want to put on a GM rim part number 9596468 the black one pictured along with the center cap GM part number 9597673. Both rims are 17 x 7.5 with six lugs yep the dealerships are telling me I cannot put the black ones with the different center caps on. I thought about painting the rims that I do have on it which are the white ones black but apparently I can’t even put the different center caps on the white rims and can only use the center caps that are pictured with the white rim.

I was wondering if anybody who is familiar with PPV and SSV Tahoes can tell me why this is or if I’m being given wrong information.

Because dealership.

They would also tell you that you can't put OEM 20s or 22s on it... That you can't put chrome handles from an LTZ on it... That you can't add the DIC control buttons... That you can't reconnect the rear speakers or window switches or locks...

They type in your vehicle's VIN and mindlessly read what the computer says your vehicle was built with. Any deviations are beyond their scope of comprehension and they give you their "safe" response.

Ignore the dealership and put those rims on. The PPV are set up that way from dealer VIN system so you need to do a workaround. One of the downfalls of buying a PPV/SSV.

Are those black ones really aluminum? Man, that would remove a TON of unsprung weight from the wheel assembly over the factory wheels. The steelies are _heavy_.

If aluminum, any idea what the 9596468 weight? Inquiring minds want to know.

They're steel, just black instead of gray/silver.

Just paint the silver ones.

I’ve also seen people drill and tap for the other caps. That’s for you to decide if it’s a good idea or not.
