You guys are correct that I don't have anything to compare it to because the stock one was literally shredded. Ive tested it on the same cds, same radio stations and still have the varying sound. Yes, the new sub matches the stock sub impedence,i remember that for sure. Its gotta be a connection. This morning it sounded prefect driving into work BTW lol

Just out of curiosity... does the GMT800 use a dual voice coil sub???

2000-2002 GMT800 Had an 8" Single Voice Coil Sub in the back
2001-2002 Yukon Denali, XL Denali had a Bose Acoustimass sub in the back with a small oval shaped sub speaker with special piping to make it sound larger.
2002 Escalade had the same as the short wheelbase Denali.
2003-2006 (& Classic 2007) had the dual voice coil Bose sub in the console
