I just replaced all four brake calipers on my 06 Denali. Went to bleed the brakes and there was no fluid coming out of the bleeder valve in the left rear caliper. Pumped the pedal and built up a bit of pressure. Still no fluid. I turned the engine on and pressed the brake pedal to the floor. I think it tripped the ABS. The brake light came on momentarily and it seemed to reset - the light just flashed for a second and went away. Still no fluid coming out of the bleeder valve though.
I turned the engine on and pumped the brakes. Then the brake light came on along with a "Service brake system" message, "Stability sys disabled" message, and the traction control disabled light. I plugged in a scanner and show a stored code of C0292 "Lost communications with engine control system".
When I replaced the front right caliper, I noticed almost no fluid coming out of the brake line. I had actually bled the rear left and right calipers before replacing the front calipers and everything went fine. Fluid was coming out and I was able to bleed the rear before replacing the front. So I'm certain it's not the caliper. The brake fluid reservoir is still full. Do I need to bleed the master cylinder? Would air in the lines cause those error messages and codes? What should be my next step?
