Recommendation for brighter headlights

I want to keep the stock lights fixtures and wire some hid or led or something into them. Anyone done it?
Im thinking something like this

I just did this mod on the Low and High Beams.

Then I added an OEM fog light switch from a 99 Suburban Classic, and can switch on both lights at the same time.

Here’s a shot of the easy connection and one comparing the OEM style bulbs with the LEDs
HUGE improvement.

I've ran HID's for the last almost 20 years, personal preference. if you get some old school ballast's there pretty reliable the new stuff is garbage

after being around the block on HID's I go by the ballast weight, the better ones are heavier like these vvme, the vvme is 13.5oz, versus the newer xentech which is only 9.9oz (it's probably a knock off) even though they swore it was genuine, some of the lightweight ballast don't last a month or two but the better ones will last for years and years if you mount them properly so there not exposed to rain at all.

I guess i should ask about hid vs led? Whats the pros and cons?

After a little reading it seems led is the way to go of you can keep them cool

Seems like the only thing you can get everyone to agree on as actually being bright and of quality is hid kits for about $200 and up

In the factory headlight you will not have a focus beam
