It's been awhile, but I beleive I put in an 8" Infinty dual coil sub in the stock location ('02 Z71). I fed it with a 2-channel amp floor-mounted center under the rear (fold-up) seat. Sealant and gasket material to eliminate squeaking, large conductors for power/ground and audio cable. I went with one that had minimal sealed box volume requirement.

If you have 2nd row captain's chairs, you could install a downward-firing sub in a custom box that could not be damaged by your dogs, and also be used as a table top for the second row seat occupants. Just an alternative thought, if applicable.
