Rear liftgate window and dome light problem

Hello everyone. When I open/close the liftgate window on my 2007 GMC Yukon XL Denali sometimes the dome lights stay on and won't turn off. Then have to open/close it again hoping it will cause them to go off.

Anyone else come across this problem and if so what did you do to fix it. Would I need to replace the whole latch mechanism for the window or is there a sensor somewhere else I need to check out?
