Is it possible to adjust the brakes the other way. I got them to tight. 97 GMC Yukon 4x4 without taking the wheel off

May have to punch out the stamped oval in backing plate for access, rubber plug goes in there after.
Usually on these the rears run loose, so to get decent brake pedal you gotta stab the brakes hard in reverse a few times.
I always figured free spin on drums about 1/2 turn of wheel was enough drag with new brakes,tire mounted hard spin.

Yep, you need to back it off if it's too tight now. Thru said oval window on the backing plate. You need to push the "dog" out of the way and crank the star wheel to loosen it.
