Not sure if this is the right category or not, but I just had a question.

The rear A/C in my 01 Tahoe only cools when the front A/C is on. If I only have the rear A/C on, it will only blow air. It's like the compressor does not turn on unless the front A/C is on.

Is this normal?

It really is not a big deal, I am just curious...

Yes normal they share a compressor so you need to turn it on up front for rear to work

I thought so, but on the other hand I also thought that the rear A/C would be able to engage the compressor if it were turned on.
